Monday Sales Call: Interactive Marketing for Poker Affiliates?

Last Monday Herb and I went to the Minnesota Interactive Marketing Summit. The afternoon keynote speak was none other than marketing guru Seth Godin. Regrettably i didn’t take notes for you guys. If you haven’t read his blog or any of his best selling marketing books, I suggest you get started.

Below is a summary of the notes I took for two of the lectures I attended… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Blogs I Read

I’ve had this blog for a almost a year now.  Even though I am only ‘part time’ blogger, I still struggle with post ideas.  I am amazed at how professional bloggers like Seth Godin and Shoemoney consistently come up with fresh content almost every day.

I generally find myself freaking out on Mondays around 5pm because I have no clue what to blog about on Monday Sales Call.  Once… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: BAC Trip Report

Tuesday night I rushed to the airport at around 6:30. I had a fantasy football at 7:00 pm and my flight left at 9:30. I was able to draft for about 7 rounds in the Delta terminal before Herb and I
had to get on the plane. I planned on sleeping the majority of the flight to Amsterdam. However, I ended up watching movies the entire trip! The last two months… Continue reading

Herb and I are flying to Budapest tomorrow night for the Budapest Affiliate Conference.  We will be visiting with several of our poker rooms partners and a few PAS Publishers.  I am really pumped for the trip.  I have never been to Europe and this is also my first affiliate conference.

I will be in meetings for the majority of the week and weekend, so if you have an… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Monetization Methods….Part 1

Two weeks ago we told you 61% of Rakeback users’ and 56% of Rakeback trackers had lifetime MGR (rake) over $500. Whether you run an existing poker affiliate website or are considering getting your feet wet in online poker marketing, it is essential to analyze your traffic to determine the best means of monetization for… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: A Visit from an Old Friend

We had the pleasure of meeting with a long time PAS publisher last week. Rakebackaces came into the office Friday morning. We have worked with RBA for the last 18 moths and have been industry friends since the Party days. We went over the current projects him and his team are working on and how we can meet their needs. A few of the “needs” we already have and… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Sleep and Whiteboards

The last 2-3 weeks have been non-stop work for me and my co-workers. I hit a wall Friday night and slept for 15 hours straight!  The launch of PAS Traditional added a good deal of work for our tech and design staff.  I spent the last week mapping out the logistics and procedure for campaign creations. 25% of this process will need to be revamped or eliminated when PAS 3.0… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Broaden Your Target Market

As you may or may not know, Poker Affiliate Solutions has expanded our poker affiliate network. We are now offering affiliates CPA (cost per action) and non-rakeback Revenue Share deals. I have chatted with several PAS Publishers who plan on launching sites in the near future targeting non-rakeback players. I think they are very wise.

Many of our Publishers have little experience marketing to the new poker player. They… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Twitter Update

Last week I talked about how I finally created a Twitter account to promote PAS. I have spent the last 8 days “Tweeting” about PAS, poker, movies, and music.

So far I have 46 followers. 8 are spam accounts. Last week I read that Twitter has been cracking down on spam accounts. While this is good news it also means that people lose followers. I lost 2 followers over… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: I Finally Gave into Twitter

I finally gave in and created a Twitter account for PAS. The account will be used to market PAS as well as update our existing publishers on new rooms, software upgrades, promotions and much more. I will also throw in some personal Tweets about what kind of trouble I find myself in outside of the office. I really loathe seeing Tweets on Facebook so I will not subject my friends… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Writer’s Block

I wasn’t sure what to write about tonight. I have been slammed with work all day and my brain is mush! Couple that with lack of sleep this weekend (blackjack is the devil) and my creative writing skills are that of an 8 yr old.

So I decided to write a handy checklist for poker webmasters to use when writing content for their own portals, articles, and blogs.

[ ] Write about… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Reducing Your Variance as an Affiliate

In poker, we can reduce our variance by changing our playing style, stakes, types of games played (example: tournaments have more variance than cash games), and table selection. As affiliates, we can and should reduce our variance by means of diversification.

Rakeback affiliates market to the serious/winning poker player who is looking to boost the bankroll and curb variance by getting a percent of their rake back. The big rakeback players… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Vegas Trip Report

Friday

Wake up in pain because I took a softball to the face the night before. My nose got busted open and there is some swelling. Other than that, life is good cause it’s Vegas time. Byron and I get on our plane and say goodbye to the money in our pockets and bank accounts.

We land in Vegas, catch a cab to Caesars and attempt to check in. We are told… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Vegas Baby

Byron (el presidente de PAS) and I are heading to Vegas this Friday to meet up with PAS friends, partners, and publishers. The last time I was in Vegas I went with my dad who was in town on business. I would grind 1/2 NL all day at the MGM and then hit up restaurants and shows with my dad at night. A lady of the night actually chose to… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: My Adventures in Retail

My father and new step-mother were in town this weekend.  They were supposed to come up for a sales conference but my dad’s company had a swine flu scare!  So instead of listening to boring presentations, my dad and step mom got to see the finer parts of the Twin Cities. We visited several restaurants and shops in Minneapolis/Saint Paul.

As a single male, I don’t go “shopping” much. To me… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Are you Experienced?

I have decided to play a WSOP event this year. My reasoning in doing so is two fold:

1. Take a shot at winning a bracelet and ship a 6 figure score.
2. Soak in the experience of playing a WSOP event.

The thought of winning a bracelet and going down in poker history excites me. Winning life changing money would be awesome as well. However, the more I think about it, it’s… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Call to Action with Permission

I was out of the office last Monday on vacation and I forgot to post. 30 straight weeks of blogging on Mondays came to an end. My quest in becoming the Cal Ripken Jr. of bloggers is over.

I went to Dallas for the Memorial Day holiday to visit my father and see some old friends. I had the opportunity to meet Randy Ray at his book store just outside of… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: Call To Action and Permission Marketing

I have been thinking a lot lately about what makes the perfect blend of Call to Action and Permission Marketing. Call to Action marketing can often be misinterpreted by marketers and the result is never pretty. The thought of succeeding at Permission Marketing (a term coined by e-marketing guru Seth Godin) can be intimidating for the new or even seasoned marketer.

I guess since Godin coined the term he can write… Continue reading

Monday Sales Call: A Trip Down Memory Lane

I went to visit my father’s side of the family in Chicago over the weekend. On Saturday, my dad and I took a ride down to the neighborhood where he grew up.  We ended up stopping by an old building my grandfather used to own.  My grandfather’s parents immigrated from Italy around 1920 and made their new home in an Italian neighborhood in Chicago.  My great-grandfather was a fruit peddler… Continue reading
